The FSS line logic is done in a Siemens S7-300 PLC. Speed controlled AC motors are connected to Siemens Sinamics AC vector controlled drives. Shear servomotor is controlled by Sinamics servo drive with a Simotion controller. The Simotion controller handles very fast tasks for electrical gearing and cam control comparing the strip length and shear position.
The main line speed reference is generated in the PLC. References are sent to the Sinamics drive system using Profibus or Profinet.
